Mandla Money wins XRPL Creating Real World Impact Hackathon

In July 2022, Mandla Money participated in the XRPL Creating Real World Impact Hackathon hosted by Ripple. Competing against hundreds of competitors, Mandla Money emerged victorious in the Best Social Justice Use Case category for the Mandla Money SMS Wallet’s potential to drive financial inclusion in emerging economies.

The XRPL hackathon which was open to tech teams interested in building apps to improve lives in the real world using any of the XRPL SDKs and APIs consisted of over 300 participants from more than 20 countries. The award categories were Best Social Justice Use Case, Best Economic Use Case and Best Sustainability Use Case.

Mandla Wallet is a digital wallet that allows users to receive, transact and store value using digital assets via SMS, with no need for a smartphone or an internet connection. We see an opportunity for this wallet to drive financial inclusion, reduce frictions with remittances (domestic and regional) and serve as a mechanism for bulk distribution of transparent & traceable relief aid/social welfare at low cost.
